A Talk Program by Dr. Kimiaki Tanaka on Nepalese & Tibetan Art.

Nagarjuna Institute of Exact methods (NIEM) organized a talk program on "Museums of Tibeto-Nepalese art in Japan and Korea--The Toga Meditation Museum and the Hwa-jeong Museum--"  by Dr. Kimiaki Tanaka, from Eastern Institute, Japan at the premise of Satoaki Building at Kopundole, Patan. The program started when Mr. M.B.shakya, director of the institute welcomed the audience. About 60 scholars and students participated in this presentation session.

Dr. Kimiaki Tanaka (b. 1955-02) is a research Fellow at Eastern Institute, Japan. He is a brilliant scholar and Buddhist art historian of Japan specializing in Buddhist thanka painting. There are several works to his credit. Some of his works are as follows:

DSBC Project's particapation in UN Vesak Day Celebration

 

May 15-17, 2008

The Nagarjuna Institute took part in the celebration of the United Nations Day of Vesak Purnima, held in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Vesak Day celebration which marks the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha ran from May 15 till May 17, 2000.

 

 

Mr. Min Bahadur Shakya presented a paper on "A 21st Century Tripitaka: The Development of the Digital Sanskrit Buddhist Canon." The UNDV 2008 was hosted by the government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and co-organised by the IOC and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Participation in EBTI/CBETA conference

 

February 15-17, 2008

The NIEM participated in the EBTI/CBETA conference February 15-17, 2008 at Dharma Drum Buddhist College, Taipei. The conference was organized to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Buddhist Electronic Text Association (CBETA) and the fifteenth year since the founding of The Electronic Buddhist Text Initiative (EBTI).
